BORA Rum and Tonic

The nation’s favourite cocktail, the gin and tonic has been a staple ever since it was given to soldiers and diplomats to stave off malaria in the 19th century. More recently this timeless cocktail has benefited from the proliferation of new and interesting styles of gin.

A BORA Botanical Rum with tonic takes this humble cocktail in an exciting new direction. Our rum, distilled from the finest Caribbean sugar cane and choice British botanicals, is a smooth, dry, and aromatic spirit. Its unlike any other rum, or gin, on the market and is distilled to partner with tonic perfectly. It truly is the rum for gin lovers.

Being made entirely from sugar cane, BORA is gluten free and suitable for those with even a severe gluten intolerance.

What You Need

  • 50mls of BORA Botanical Rum
  • A quality Tonic, our go to is Fever Tree Premium Indian Tonic Water
  • Our favourite garnish is rosemary, but others work well too

To make the perfect BORA and tonic it is important to get everything as cold as possible. Chill the glass, refrigerate the tonic, and use lots of large ice cubes. And, if possible, keep the rum in the freezer. Having the ingredients as cold as possible ensures that the carbonisation from the tonic water is maintained, and the dilution from melting ice is reduced. This allows you to taste BORA as it is intended – packed with flavour.

We personally like mixing the tonic to the rum in a 3:1 ratio, but we encourage everyone to experiment to find their perfect strength. Before placing the garnish in the glass, smack it between your hands to release some of the oils within – it really does make a difference.
